The falling in love thing
Once upon a time I surfed the internet. It was a Friday afternoon, and suddenly he appeared on the screen. He was so beautiful and lively. I had to follow him to his home, which turned out to be Elysium in Korea.
The price of him almost made me fall of the chair!
– This is not for me, I thought, it’s too expensive.
But I couldn’t get him out of my mind. These dolls took over my brain.
That’s where it all started. 3 weeks later I had my first Ball Jointed doll.
More dolls
As it turned out, there were a lot more dolls out there than Elysium and after a couple of days search, I found a specific style that I liked. I guess I’m mostly into dolls who are as close to the real world as possible.
My love has gone to the SD size (Super Dollfie) also called 1/3 (1/3 human size) and covers the sizes from 48 cm to 75 cm (might also cover taller dolls, but the mentioned sizes are the most used).
I got my first doll second hand. He is a LeekeWorld model and came with the head of Hero.
It was very intensive to wait for him. I had never seen such a doll real life, and I think I could all his measurements in my head, but still, I was so excited to meet him.
When he finally arrived, I was in complete awe and almost reverent to the doll.
He was beautifully made, though he needed to be taken care of, but he was a real darling.
I had already fallen in love with the Leeke model Romeo, (hey I’m fast, this was week 3 of my discovery of these dolls ) and when a Romeo head was for sale one week later and I already had a Leeke boy body, I couldn’t help but buying it.
I’m the kinda person who for many years had been drawing, painting and so on, so I had all the materials to give the boy a new face up.
The woman I bought the Romeo head from, made a beautiful face-up on him and now I have the Hero head to play with.
That’s really nice. [Mary’s Flickr address]
I’m in the business, and as I had to do a huge amount of research to get here, I thought I’d share it all with you.
So here we go.
